In February last year, it was announced that date export duties would increase from zero to 50%. About 1,300,000 tons of dates are produced in the country every year, of which 70% is for domestic consumption and 30% is exported. Also, according to the head of Iran’s National Date Association, 40 to 50 percent of domestic and foreign consumption of dates is usually done in the holy month of Ramadan. Last year, in order to regulate the market during the holy month of Ramadan and prevent the increase in the price of this tropical product, it was decided that the date export duty would be 50% until June.

In this regard, Zahra Jalili Moghadam, Director General of Tropical and Subtropical Fruits Office of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad, announced the increase in the export of tropical fruits in 1402 and stated: Last year, the export of dates was 390 thousand tons worth 345 million dollars, which compared to It has increased by 7% in terms of weight and 10% in terms of value compared to the same period last year.
